The Cooperative of Maritime Power Professionals Ltd. (COOMAR) is mostly
composed of retired officers and enlisted men of the Brazilian Navy,
and has, as object, to provide services in the areas of the maritime
sectors. It is an organization registered with the Directorate of
Hydrography and Navigation - DHN, Brazilian institution entrusted
with controlling activities of Hydrography, Oceanography and Marine
Meteorology, and with Admiral Moraes Rego Marine Aids to Navigation
and Repair Center - CAMR, which is an affiliated member of the International
Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities
(IALA) as the Brazilian Lighthouse Authority. COOMAR offers the following
services by means of its members, professionals with large experience,
acquired over many years of service at DHN and CAMR: 1)
Category "A" Automated Hydrographic Surveys compliant
with DHN's Technical Instruction for Hydrographic Surveys (A-6A),
using high resolution single-beam and multi-beam echosounders and
positioning equipments with differential correction (SDGPS - Satellite
Differential Global Positioning System) and HYPACK software, with
applications in outlining and marking navigation channels, areas
dangerous to navigation and in evaluating dredging operations, the
drafts of which are made with AutoCad 2000 software;

Making of Sport and Leisure Nautical Charts, which
are designed to mariners who need specific cartographic information
and representations with a level of details not often found on traditional
charts and sailing directions. These charts have the following characteristics:
- Format
and scale suitable for use on small cratfts, which, in general,
are not equipped with a navigation table.
-
Hydrographic and topographich details specific for users who usually
sail very close to the coast, such as rocks, shoals, narrow channels,
private buoyage systems, anchorage areas, mooring buoys, small
quays and landings for boats, conspicuous constructions, marinas,
yatch clubs, etc.
- Plenty
of information on facilities of interest to the sport and leisure
mariner, such as places for fuel, water and provisions supply,
physician, inns, hotels, banks, maritime authorities, customs,
police, road accesses, etc.
In addition to its traditional printed form, the sport and leisure
chart can be produced , supplied and updated in digital format
(Electronic Chart), compatible with the main softwares available
on the market.
